Business intelligence dashboards have been the default tool for finance teams for twenty years. They answer one question well: what happened? Revenue moved up. Margin moved down. Churn is up. The practical path

Start with one line of the P&L where variance matters most — usually gross margin or customer acquisition cost. Build a driver tree for just that line. Run causal analysis on the last 8-12 quarters. Present the output next to your existing variance report.
